Its Friday so its time for five brand new tracks to get their first spin on the hour every hour from 9am. We’ll keep playing these tracks on New Zealand Net Radio, home of streaming radio ad free 24/7 throughout New Zealand.
Ben Howard – There’s Your Man
Ben’s new album was released last week. We’ve been playing “Towing The Line” for a while but Noonday Dream is filled with pretty chilled synthy music. The Independent described it as expanding “the Cornish landscape that has impacted his previous work and brings in sounds and instruments that spark the imagination for places further afield, in the most exquisite way”.
Peter Yorn & Scarlett Johansson – Iguana Bird
We’ve been looking forward to this new EP since the track “Bad Dreams was released a few weeks ago, with its noir video. Iguana Bird is another great track.
Mallrat – Groceries
Mallrat is Grace Shaw, an Australian singer-songwriter. This great track off her new EP In The Sky sounds fantastic, and I must admit the cover caught my eye!
Maroon 5 – Girl Like You ft Cardi B
OK its unashamedly commercial, a collaboration between pop superstars Maroon 5 and Cardi B, a smooth pop confection designed for maximum radio spins and streams. But there’s a reason – its infectious great pop that works!
Flight Facilities – All Your Love ft. Justin Tebbutt
Folk singer Justin Tebbutt lays down great vocals over Flight Facilities delicate synths in this nice number, another standalone single from the Australian duo. We’re told more great singles are to come soon.

Passenger – Hell Or High Water
Lowell – No Talk
Liz Lawrence – Circling Numbers
pronoun – run
We’ve been looking forward to this album from this Glaswegian band for months since their promising early singles “Miracle” and “My Enemy” were released. Lauren Mayberry’s vocals are incredible, and the band’s synth pop sound continues to evolve. The Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart gave some early inspiration. An interesting influence mentioned in an interview with Matt Waterman of Beats 1 was New Order’s track “Age of Consent”, with its loose, rough feel. They certainly have achieved a raw live feel with this great album. Can’t wait to play it to you!
May has been New Zealand Music Month since 2000, an opportunity to promote and celebrate New Zealand music. Check out the
Nerina Pallot – Man Didn’t Walk On The Moon
Ruel – Dazed & Confused
LOWES – Here We Are
Billy Raffoul – Could You Be Mine?
Elohim – Half Love
This album continues Keith’s interest in combining different genre sounds with country. Its a winning combination – a fantastic set of songs including beautiful collaborations with Julia Michaels and Lindsay Ell. Some of the touches like Woman might jar slightly (the attempt to dial in to the #metoo mood of the year) but this is just a good album of Country Pop.
This is an awesome new track from Kelsey Lu, a Los Angeles based cellist and singer. Enjoy – we’ll give it spin after 3. Listen on @tunein ad-free 24/7 throughout New Zealand https://goo.gl/VL6m3N
First release from a forthcoming EP (Apart due June 1) this song by Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johanssen is simply phenomenal. We know its Sunday morning tomorrow but can’t wait to give it a spin – is just after 9am a respectable hour? It is now … listen on @tunein https://goo.gl/VL6m3N for “Bad Dreams”.
There’s lots of great music around but this is one of those rare records that stands out from the throng. So many influences, great songs and Leon Bridges has a phenomenal voice. This is another preview off his forthcoming album Good Thing – looking forward to May 4th.
