In a week of two wonderfully retro new releases (check out The Lemon Twig’s new one Look for Your Mind!) we tossed the coin and chose Stephen Sanchez’ second album. What a follow up. Apart from the annoying capitalized titles (sorry, pet peeve!) this is a wonderful collection of songs developing his sound while staying rooted in classic influences. Despite an array of producers (Oscar Görres (OZGO, also executive producer), Rami Yacoub, Mattman & Robin, and others (including contributions from Max Martin) the album manages to convey a unified sound. He said on Facebook:
This record is inspired by all the love I’ve received and seen recently, the love I’m not so great at showing others but would like to be better at, and the ever increasing desire to see people come together. To quote the title track, ‘it’s just what the world needs!’
The critics have been a bit quiet but we think this is a lovely album, well worth a listen!
