Whew – massive week. We’ve already added a fantastic track from Indie band Sunflower Bean (“Come For Me”), and all this to look forward to – and more new tracks coming on the weekend. NZ Hip Hop/Rap artist Kings has put out a great new album with a huge range of sounds. We’re not into the rap stuff, but we love “Carry You”!

Groovy bluesy music – from Australia! The Teskey Brothers have released a deluxe version of last year’s Half Mile Harvest with two great new tracks – “I Get Up” and “Say You’ll Do”. A fantasic album evoking the Motown sound.

We don’t always agree with Pitchfork reviews, but in this case we do:

her masterful command of emotions on the dancefloor slowly reveals itself across another enthralling record

Pop and dance filled with emotion, development and great tunes. This will almost certainly be on most top albums of the year lists, something worth the eight year wait since her last release.

Rüfüs Du Sol – Treat You Better

Been loving this music from the Australian trio this week, another chance to enjoy this great new album.

Richard Ashcroft – That’s When I Feel It

From his pleasant new album Natural Rebel the former Blur frontman has produced some more simple but classic sounds.

Billie Eilish – When The Party’s Over

We can take or leave some of this popsters work but this is one of her best singles. I wish she didn’t look like she’d over-indulged in mind changing substances all the time though!

NEIKED – How Did I Find You (feat. Miriam Bryant)

Openside – Work Out

And saving the best for last, another teaser song from Kiwi band Openside – these tracks are such earworms – should be in the top 10!

Album of the Week: RÜFÜS DU SOL – Solace

Some good music out this week (we’ll spin a few for New Music Friday). Greta Van Fleet’s Anthem Of The Peaceful Army got a bit of a savaging in some critical quarters, but even if not the most inventive new rock is still well executed and enjoyable. Also out is MØ with Forever Neverland and Khalid’s devastatingly good EP Suncity. Most interesting for us though was Sydney trio RÜFÜS DU SOL’s third album Solace. Fantasic electonica that further develops their sound. “No Place” is a track we’ve been enjoying for a bit, but there is plenty of substance here.

After a bit of a break Sia reminds us that she’s “Still Here”, great new Kiwi music from Maggie Rogers (a superb track from her promised debut album next January) as well as superb music from Ella Mai, Meg Mac and Jess Glynne ( a great all female lineup this week).

Meg Mac – Give Me My Name Back

Jess Glynne – Thursday

Ella Mai – Whatchamacallit (ft. Chris Brown)

Maggie Rogers – Light On

Sia – I’m Still Here

Album of the Week: Anika Moa – Anika Moa

New Zealand Net Radio plays a song from our #albumoftheweek every hour from 9am to 12pm Monday to Friday. Listen in @tunein at https://tunein.com/radio/New-Zealand-Net-Radio-s305138/

A challenging call this week with some big releases – A Star Is Born, Sydney songwriter Ivy Adara’s Intraduction EP, Eric Church’s powerful Desperate Man, the excellent Felivand with In Bloom and Twenty One Pilot’s big Trench.

We had to go with the beautiful album by kiwi Anika Moa though. A collection of songs which belie her TV persona, the album was recorded in New Orleans a few months ago with an amazing backing band. Enjoy!
