Just Added: Hall & Oates – Philly Forget Me Not (with Train)
If you’d asked me last week whether I’d be adding a brand new Hall & Oates number to our playlist I’d have said – ah, yes please but REALLY? Yes its happened, the first new song from Daryl Hall & John Oates (@halloates) in 14 years, released in time for a major 40 date North American tour with Train. This is actually a pretty neat number, a tribute to hometown Philadelphia, and even features a little tribute to one of their classic numbers. Listen in tomorrow morning after 7 for our first spin of this number.
Album of the Week: Kacey Musgraves – Golden Hour
New Zealand Net Radio features our Album of the Week from 9am to 12pm on weekdays. Each hour we play a track from a ‘worthy’ new album. Listen Now

We enjoyed High Horses on New Music Friday, now let’s meander through the whole album.
Macy’s career spans over a decade, with her first major label studio album being released in 2013 (Same Trailer Different Park) and she has been nominated and won plenty of awards including a Grammy nomination and has won the Academy of Country Music best album award for Same Trailer.
This new album clearly belongs in the Country genre but makes a clear effort to break through to pop as well, especially in the Bee Gees inspired High Horses. The lyrics are pretty cool too. Some of the material is a bit of a celebration of getting stoned which is a shame but aside from that is a great selection of songs. We’re going to enjoy poring through them this week.
The Tracklist
- Slow Burn
- Lonely Weekend
- Butterflies
- Oh, What A World
- Mother
- Love Is A Wild Thing
- Space Cowboy
- Happy & Sad
- Velvet Elvis

Its Friday so its time for five brand new tracks to get their first spin on the hour every hour from 9am. We’ll keep playing these tracks on New Zealand Net Radio, home of streaming radio ad free 24/7 throughout New Zealand.

Kasey Musgraves – High Horse
Great country pop crossover, this promises to be a huge song.

HIGH HØØPS – Body
Awesome to see a Kiwi artist on New Music Friday once again, this is a great piece of pop.

Dizzy – Pretty Things
Canadian rockers Dizzy have released some great tracks recently. We like this one!

Stan Walker – Thank You
And our second Kiwi artist, Stan Walker returns with another album of great songs.

Kodaline – Follow Your Fire
Another great track from the Dublin rockers.
Album of the Week: George Ezra – Staying At Tamara’s
New Zealand Net Radio features our Album of the Week from 9am to 12pm on weekdays. Each hour we play a track from a ‘worthy’ new album. Listen Now
You’ve spent a year or so touring and promoting a massive album (number 3 in sales in the UK for 2014). If you’re George Ezra (@george_ezra)you understandably take some time out. Last year he headed to Barcelona to an Airbnb owned by the Tamara of this album’s title and spent a month working on these songs. Some critics have described them as “unflinchingly polite” and that this album will “doubtless be huge” whilst venomously making what sound like virtues to us into criticisms (The Guardian). We’ll enjoy these songs on their merits, working through the tracklist during our morning 9am – 12 pm programme. Hope you enjoy them! Oh and the tracklist:
- Pretty Shining People
- Don’t Matter Now
- Get Away
- Shotgun
- Paradise
- All My Love
- Sugarcoat
- Hold My Girl
- Saviour (feat. First Aid Kit)
- Only a Human
- The Beautiful Dream
Just Added: Whole Damn Mess – Anywhere Without You
We’re a few months behind the times but we’ve just come across this great duo/band from Florida in the US (the single was released last December!). This is a great song – we look forward to exploring some other music from Whole Damn Mess’ (@wholedamnmess) debut album The Queen and the Outcast.
Read a great album about them and the album here. A beautiful story!
Buy the album on iTunes here.

New Music Friday: 23rd March 2018
Its Friday so its time for five brand new tracks to get their first spin on the hour every hour from 9am. We’ll keep playing these tracks on New Zealand Net Radio, home of streaming radio ad free 24/7 throughout New Zealand.
Sabrina Carpenter & Jonas Blue – Alien
Sabrina Carpenter is another pop singer with a Disney Channel background, created with British producer Jonas Blue. The song is from a forthcoming album, nice piece of pop.

Halsey ft Big Sean and Stefflon Don – Alone
This is a bit of ‘old’ and new – this song was featured on Halsey’s album from last year hopeless fountain kingdom this remis features Big Sean and UK rapper Stefflon Don. This was a good song already, described by Halsey as “Jay-Z in Great Gatsby vibes”.
Tyron Hapi & Liam Ferrari – I Like The Way
Great production from Tyron Hapi and Liam Ferrari’s vocals charm as usual. Hailing from Australia (but is Hapi a Maori surname?) these artists are really going places – Tyron’s recent track Anyway ft Mimosa went gold.
Leon Bridges – Bet Ain’t Worth The Hand
Leon Bridge’s debut album, 2015’s Coming Home was criticised for being a bit too backward looking (not a problem here! This song off his forthcming album Good Thing showcases his rich voice with great production.
The Decembrists – Once In My Life
From their new album I’ll Be Your Girl this track has the foundation of folk rock the band are known for, but with a synth rev up from producer John Congleton. Keeps things interesting …
Just Added: Sons of Zion – Drift Away
These guys have been around for a few years and have hit our playlist with this nice new cruisy pop single. Hovering near the top of the iTunes New Zealand chart it has the makings of a ‘smash hit’. They’ve toured the world and have accumulated over 12 million streams on Spotify, no mean feat. Their first album was released back in 2009 and a lot of their music has a reggae vibe – this one is more ‘poppy’ and we really like it!
Just Added: Echosmith – Over My Head
This great new single from the trio of siblings (older brother Jamie left in 2016). Echosmith’s (@echosmith) last hit single was back in 2015 (remember Cool Kids) but this one has a good chance of repeating the feat. See what you think! Love the cover photo by the way.

New Music Friday: March 16th 2018
A very antipodean pile of new music this week …
What So Not & Toto – We Keep On Running
What So Not is a project from Australian producer Chris Emerson. He’s been performing for a few years but has just released his first album Not All the Beautiful Things. This is one of the tracks, featuring legendary 80s band Toto (Africa, Hold the Line etc). There are some other interesting collaborations on the album – look out for further tracks in coming weeks on New Zealand Net Radio.
Robinson – Nothing To Regret
We are very excited about this hot pop number from Robinson. This track follows up a couple from late last year. Aged 21 Robinson has had an incredible opportunity to work with some real industry pros. She’s obviously living a globetrotting lifestyle. The girl from Nelson said about this song:
Written one night in New York, ‘Nothing to Regret’ is an ode to the dance party in your living room and living for the weekend. So excited to have it out in the world now, I hope you like it.
Thanks for asking- we do!
Alison Wonderland – No
We’ve already been enjoying CHURCH, now comes another single off Alison’s forthcoming album Awake (her second). She says:
NO IS ABOUT FAKE PEOPLE WHO ENABLE, TELLING U YES ALL THE TIME BUT I WILL ALWAYS BE REAL W U
She just tweeted:
I just found out that I am the highest billed female in history to DJ at @coachella
A well deserved accolade!
Kylie Minogue – Stop Me From Falling
Our last antipodean treat is from old hand Kylie Minogue. A single from her forthcoming 14th studio album. We were pleasantly surprised by Dancing, the first single and this one is also a cracker. Will be interesting to see what the critics say but in the end who cares – this one got the feet tapping.
Jukebox The Ghost – Fred Astaire
And now for our token US artist – and for the first time a week to week repeat. Last week we featured Everybody’s Lonely, this week an interesting number with some retro flourishes to take us back to the time of Fred Astaire, the 1940s theme keeps coming through. Fred died in 1987, an absolutely legendary entertainer for most of the 20th century as a singer and dancer. A very suitable image in this song:
When I dance like I don’t care, you call me Fred Astaire
